Clay bakeware and earthenware has been hand made in Pomaire, Chile since the mid 1800’s. This distinctive piece is both functional and decorative; it cooks well and makes a unique serving dish.
Ovens work around the clock in Pomaire, packed full of clay pieces. Each item is formed, dried, then smoothed and burnished with an agate stone before being fired. No glaze or varnish is used, the only ingredient is lead free clay. It takes around 8 hours in the oven to create the dry, hard finish. This is a hand made item, so no two are exactly alike, and each one has it’s own blemishes and shades of color.
This item comes with a clay spoon. If you use another ustensil with it, please use soft utensils such as wood, bamboo, or plastic.
Clay products are sent via FedEx Ground and generally arrive within 10 days (to most addresses within the continental USA.)
